War on Olympus
This week we are diving into two of my favorite fantasy Webtoon series, starting with War on Olympus by Wicked Wrath Comics. Corban, an unassuming boy, became a demi-god at a young age under rather curious circumstances. Since then, he has tried to live a simple life until one day he receives a summons to the underworld. And we all know that isn’t good. It looks like Corban won’t be able to get a good night’s rest anymore. Or any kind of sleep, for that matter.
I love retellings of Greek myths and stories written using the Greek Gods. There is just something about their mythos that lends itself well to any type of story. And War on Olympus is one that takes what we already know and builds on it. Wicked Wrath Comics art style lends itself to helping define the tones throughout the chapters and balances the more serious tones with the comedic ones. And honestly, we just can’t get over how cute little chibi Corban is! For fans of Greek mythos, this is a must-read!

How to Become a Dragon
The next fantasy series we want to chat about is How to Become a Dragon by Eon. This isn’t their first rodeo on Webtoon. This series follows up their already completely series Super Secret. In How to Become a Dragon, poor Young Yoo’s life is turned upside down when 1000-year old imoogi Bari suddenly appears and demands payment for the sins of Yoo’s ancestors. But what kind of payment is required? Tutoring, of course! Yoo needs to help Bari prepare and pass the Nakdong River Dragon Exam or else!
How to Become a Dragon features a fantastic story, world and art style that I have come to love from Eon. While it might seem like a rather serious situation Yoo finds himself in, it manages to become quite comedic at times, thanks to Bari’s terrible social skills and the way he approaches problems and situations throughout the story. It is easy to find yourself lost in their tale and the perfect read for a long fall afternoon!
