Lucifer returns next month to complete season five after God (Dennis Haysbert) finally made his appearance on Earth. Netflix released the first trailer for 5B and production photos. And by the looks of it, the celestial brothers have a lot to work out now that Dad’s in town.
If you recall, Lucifer (Tom Ellis) and his twin brother Michael (also Ellis) were at odds. Michael tried to take over Luci’s life and cause a lot of trouble for Chloe (Lauren German), Amenadiel (D. B. Woodside), Mazikeen (Lesley-Ann Brandt) and pretty much everyone. The season finale ended with a big fight between the brothers (and Maze) in the LAPD HQ. The only person who could have stopped it, God himself, showed up at the end of the finale, much to the celestials’ surprise.

Now, Lucifer turns his attention on dear old Dad and their fractured relationship. It appears that God is feeling a little guilty about not being there for his boys and is trying to make up for it. Too little, too late? Maybe. But as you watch the trailer, you’ll see a lot of what God is doing is really kind of cute. I mean … he gives Luci a noogie!
Lucifer realizes he has to focus on two relationships here. He knows needs to fix his relationship with God before he can move forward with Chloe. So when God says he’s retiring, that just complicates things even more. Of course the twins would be the only two angels bold enough to go after the crown. This war between the brothers heats up and there’s no telling how far either of them will go to win.
And by the looks of things, Chloe may be left behind yet again. While it is a good thing that Lucifer can’t lie, it’s still gotta hurt when he can’t say those three little words. Both Luci and Chloe have fought so hard to be together to be held back by words is ridiculous. Let’s hope they will figure things out before the season ends.
There’s dancing, which has to be from the highly anticipated musical episode. I saw Eve (Inbar Lavi) in the trailer kissing Maze, so maybe Maze will get that soul after all. And did it look like Dan (Kevin Alejandro) and Lucifer may actually become friends? What does Dr. Linda (Rachael Harris) do to get arrested? I think it’s hilarious that Chloe tells God that he’s a terrible father. That woman doesn’t hold back! I think if anyone needs to meet God it’s Ella Lopez (Aimee Garcia). She has the most faith of all of the characters and her recent beef with God would be an interesting storyline for her. Hmmm …There’s so much going on in this trailer so I know we’re in for a good time.
