Marvel fans, 2020 has been a tough year. No major movies from the Marvel Cinematic Universe debuted this go-round, much to everyone’s collective chagrin. However, there’s still hope! Disney Plus will soon be streaming the highly anticipated WandaVision!

Entertainment Weekly has blessed us with a slew of new photos from the series. Praise be to Odin! Said photos reveal just how much the Powers That Be drew inspiration from sitcoms of old like I Love Lucy and The Dick Van Dyke Show. For the moments when Wanda showcased her telekinetic powers, the crew utilized wires and old camera tricks, just like in Bewitched and I Dream of Jeannie. Head writer Jac Schaeffer noted that WandaVision is a love letter to the golden age of television.

We’re paying tribute and honoring all of these incredible shows and people who came before us, [but] we’re also trying to blaze new territory.

Of course, Marvel is immensely tightlipped regarding plot details. However, we do know that it takes place after the events of Avengers: Endgame, despite Vision (Paul Bettany) dying in Avengers: Infinity War. Judging by one of the EW photos, it looks like Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) and her hubby may be expecting.

Now, Kathryn Hahn‘s Agnes is that nosy neighbor from traditional ’50s sitcoms that everyone adores. Since the show delves into different sitcom decades, notably the ’50s and ’80s, we get to see Agnes in quite different getup down the line. One image shows her sporting leg warmers and a sky-high hairdo.

Bettany commented on Wanda and Vision’s arduous love affair.

They’ve had a long and gentle love affair, right? It’s a pretty quirky relationship. She’s a witch, he’s a robot. Or artificial person, or synthezoid, or whatever your preferred name tag.

We also get to see newcomer to the MCU Teyonah Parris in action. She portrays Monica Rambeau as an adult. We first met young Monica in Captain Marvel. Again, Marvel is keeping mum on Monica’s thread in the story, but the character boasts a legendary history as a hero in the comics.

You can check out the exclusive photos below. The December issue featuring WandaVision will be on newsstands starting Friday. I’m incredibly stoked for this series. I love the homage to the golden age of television, which I think will make this show stand out from the rest. Quirky TV is my jam.

WandaVision will be available to stream sometime next month, only on Disney Plus.
