The Vikings final season is nearly upon us.  The Lothbrok clan has gone through all kinds of trials and tribulations, and now the end is nigh.  Who will be the one to reign over Scandinavia?  A new trailer gives us a glimpse at the epic battles that mark the beginning of the end of the Lothbrok saga.

Season six finds Kattegat ruled by Bjorn Ironside (Alexander Ludwig).  He’s a hero to his people, who chant his name.  But, you can see him acting and reacting very much like Ragnar (Travis Fimmel).  He’s got his father’s look, swagger, head-butting skills and struggle with morality in the face of power.  Ivar (Alex Hogh Andersen) has travelled the Silk Road and ended up somewhere in Russia, where he’s met his match in cruelty and conquest.  He and the Russians are coming for Bjorn.  It’s gonna be bloody.

Ubbe (Jordan Patrick Smith) and Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) show up in the trailer, too.  Ubbe is on a mission to find Floki (Gustaf Skarsgard).  There’s no specific sign of Floki in this trailer, but he’s just waiting to be found in Iceland.  And, Lagertha is trying to find peace in retirement.  But, it’s clear that she’s not staying on the sidelines for this one.  The question remains… can anyone kill Lagertha?  Only fate can.  And, fate might be here.

After years of turmoil and tragedy, the series reaches its biggest climax yet with the Vikings traveling to never-before-seen locations thousands of miles from Kattegat, meeting vicious rivals worthy of their strategic combat and finally facing the consequences of Ragnar’s death. The Seer’s visions come to fruition as the final season answers important life-altering questions while making it clear, the war is far from over.

The 20-episode final season of Vikings will begin with a two-hour premiere on December 4th.
