Vikings season 5 is on a role.  Three episodes in, and we’re already warring… again.  Ivar (Alex Hogh) is in charge, Ubbe (Jordan Patrick Smith) is on his own, Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) is under threat of being ousted and Floki (Gustaf Skarsgard)… well, Floki is a bit of a wild card at the moment.  Here are some thoughts on what might be in store for Norway’s best shipbuilder.

Floki has found himself on Iceland, after another attempt to be taken by the gods has failed.  This guy just won’t die.  So, what purpose do the gods (and the writers) have for him?  It’s hard to say.  Floki has been a pretty solid B plot since the death of Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel).  And, now with Helga (Maude Hirst) out of the picture, he’s gone full isolationist.  His quest to understand his purpose in life has brought him to what he thinks is the land of the gods.  He may be a seer, but he’s definitely seeing things.  Cured, he’s decided to stay.  But, I don’t think that’ll happen.

Floki has to come back to Kattegat.  If he’s still alive, he’s got something to take care of.  My money is on Floki returning to bring people back to Iceland with him.  The question is, what will he face when he returns?  Floki has formerly aligned himself with King Harald (Peter Franzen) and Ivar the Boneless.  Both of those men are out to take Lagertha out.  Perhaps Floki will be the downfall of Ragnar’s family after all.

I think this is all coming down to a showdown between Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig) and Ivar.  Floki, Lagertha, Ubbe and Hvitserk (Marco Ilso)  will be caught in the middle.  Floki will take the side of Ivar and probably King Harald, betraying Bjorn and Lagertha.   (Harald’s brother, Halfdan (Jasper Paakkonen) is befriending Bjorn as we speak, so that will most likely be another complication of loyalties!) And, I think all of this witchy stuff is going to come into play.  Floki has too many visions.  One or two of them have to effect the action of the show.  What do the crusty woman with bees pouring out of her mouth and the goddess that turns into crows mean?  For the love of Odin!  What do they mean!?!

It’s also true that Gustaf Skarsgard has been cast in the upcoming season of Westworld.  Could it be because he’s become available?  Is Floki already dead?  Tell us what you think!
