Vikings season five is in full swing.  Episode four gave us a lot to chew on, and it’s tasty!  Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) and Ubbe (Jordan Patrick Smith) have made a pact… I don’t think that will go well for Lagertha.  Astrid (Josefin Asplund) has made her decision… which may not bode well for Harald (Peter Franzen).  Floki (Gustaf Skarsgard) is coming back for ‘true believers’.  The trailer for episode five makes it clear that Lagertha is having none of that, but we all know how Floki feels about mortals telling him what to do.  Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig) just left Sicily looking for a truly worthy opponent.  So, the question is, how and when will Bjorn return to Kattegat?  And, what will he find when he does?

My prediction is that he’ll bring someone back with him.  We know from season previews and the Seer’s visions that Bjorn will be back to fight Ivar.  I think he’ll bring back some mediterranean/north african influence, advice, skills and a friend.  Kassia (Karima McAdams) is clearly a key figure.  Right now it looks like she’s plotting against the Vikings, but I think she’ll be an ally.  If it’s true that she’s been kidnapped, Bjorn freeing her might mean an unexpected alliance.  Nothing spells victory over Ivar the Boneless like completely foreign tactical knowledge from lands far away.

Bjorn will most certainly find Lagertha in mortal danger when he returns.  He’s had a knack for showing up in the knick of time to save his mother before.  Ivar will be in the way of that.  It will be a tough fight when it comes; and under terrible circumstances, as foretold.  It’s entirely possible that both Lagertha and Bjorn will fall.  But, as much as we’d like to know exactly what will happen, it is true that ‘too much knowledge is an agony.’  So, we’ll have to wait and see.
