Vikings’ final season is upon us. It premieres next week, and History tweeted a little teaser this week to get us in the mood. It doesn’t look good for the Lothbrok clan. How many of Ragnar’s (Travis Fimmel) family members will die before the saga is over?
The teaser is bleak, to be sure. Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig) is talking all about grave danger and resistance and survival. We hear a voice say “you have no idea what you are now facing.” The Rus (ancient Russians) are invading from the east. Ivar (Alex Høgh Andersen) is with them; and if Ivar is teaming up with anybody, that means they are going to be brutal. Brutal. They have huge armies and a thirst for Norse blood.
The trailer touts the beginning of the “Cold War”. It’s fitting, because they’re both people from cold climates having a war in cold weather. There are lots of cold shots of cold violence. Bjorn sits on a cold beach among cold, dead bodies and we hear him say “nothing will ever be the same again.” Cold.
For those of you, like me, on Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) watch… she’s not in this one. But, Lagertha was in the full-length trailer and she’ll surely play a part. Can she be killed? Only the soothsayer knows. We can’t wait to see what’s in store
Vikings’ sixth and final season premieres December 4th on History.
