Video Game and Anime Voice Actor KEIJI FUJIWARA Has Passed Away

Keiji Fujiwara roles Reno from FFVII, Shiro Fujimoto from Ao no Exorcist and Maes Hughes from Fullmetal Alchimest.

Japanese veteran voice actor Keiji Fujiwara, known for his role as Reno in Final Fantasy VII Remake as well as Axel in the Kingdom Hearts franchises, has passed away. The news was delivered through Air Agency, the talent agency he founded, that he passed on April 12, 2020 from cancer at the young age of 55. Fujiwara attended the Bungakuza acting school and began his career in the early ’90s.

Over the last thirty years Keiji Fujiwara has worked on what appears to be a never-ending list of roles that bring back so many memories. In the anime industry, he is the voice of Maes Hughes of Fullmetal Alchemist and most recently Byakuya Ishigami in Dr. Stone. He also worked in the Japanese dub industry, and is most notably the dubbed voice for Robert Downey Jr.‘s Tony Stark in The Avengers franchise. An entire list of his work can be found here.

Those who have been able to experience Keiji Fujiwara’s fantastic work will all say that he was a major part of so many industries and will truly be missed. Our hearts are with his loved ones and his fans at this time.
