Murder on the Orient Express‘ latest trailer has given us further clues. While an even shorter trailer than the original, we get to know a little more about the detective investigating the murder. Not only that, we are hinted heavily at who the victim of the murder actually is. Mysteries and paranoia are rampant!

The most notable thing about this trailer is the introduction to Johnny Depp‘s character. Known as “The Gangster”, we see him interacting with Kenneth Branagh‘s Hercule Poirot, the greatest detective alive. Also apparently known as the “avenger of the innocent”, Poirot is dedicated to finding out who murdered the passenger. That passenger is seemingly Depp’s Gangster. As he was not in the first trailer, we can only gather that while the first trailer was shot very cool, they had forgotten that Depp wasn’t in the scene.

In flashes we see that everyone on the train has their secrets. Not only that, they grow increasingly paranoid of one another. Not only are they a threat to one another, the elements are seemingly involved. We see shattering planks falling away from the track. A man dangling from a rope on the mountainside. We’ll have to see how the Agatha Christie novel plays out on the big screen in this retelling of the story.
