The critically-acclaimed series, Scalped, by Jason Aaron & R.M. Guéra, appears to have received a pilot order from WGN America as reported by The Hollywood Reporter earlier today.

The pilot script was written by Doug Jung, who most recently wrote the script for the up-coming Star Trek Beyond.

The pilot will be executive produced by DC Chief Creative Geoff Johns.

The series, which ran for 60 issues as part of DC’s Vertigo imprint, takes place entirely on a Native American Reservation and was loosely inspired by the arrest of Leonard Peltier, a Native American activist in 1975 who was arrested for the murder of two FBI agents in a shoot out.

THR describes the series as “A modern-day crime story set in the world of a Native American Indian reservation. It explores power, loyalty and spirituality in a community led by the ambitious chief Lincoln Red Crow, as he reckons with Dashiell Bad Horse who has returned home after years away from the reservation.”

Yup. That sounds like Scalped!

According to THR, the series is looking to cast an entirely Native American cast.
