Veronica Mars fans are ready for the return. The teen sleuth (Kristen Bell) is all grown up and back to save her home town from certain destruction. Neptune needs her, and her homecoming looks explosive.

The trailer gives us a little taste of Mars’ reasoning for her recidivism. It also gives us a darker and more adult turn on the character that became a cult phenomenon. All of our favorites return. Logan (Jason Dohring) is back for more steamy love affair, with a mysterious line about “extended leave.” Hmm. Fishy.

There are new faces, too. J.K. Simmons plays a shady character that shows up around the same time a bunch of bombs start going off in Neptune. I’m sure that is pure coincidence. And Patton Oswalt makes an appearance as a knowing pizza man. They both have a look of suspicion about them.

If you want to brush up on your Veronica Mars, Hulu will be running the original series (2004 – 2007) and the 2014 crowd-funded movie for your convenience. That’s according to our friends at nerdist.com.

The Hulu eight-episode series focuses on one season-long mystery. The format has grown up with Veronica. It launches July 26th. We can’t wait for this one!
