VENOM Unleashes the Demons in Our First Trailer

One of Spider-Man‘s greatest enemies (and sometimes anti-hero) is coming to the big screen in his own film. Venom is a Sony-outing that looks to be a big action movie featuring our favorite symbiote. While this trailer doesn’t give us any look at the suit, we do get a little taste of Eddie Brock’s mental state during the film. And needless to say, it’s not too great, given that he was just infected by an alien.

Tom Hardy‘s voiceover tells us that everyone has their “thing” – something to make them change forever. We get flashes of a crashed alien ship, New York streets, and lots of hospital shots. A seemingly bad guy (Riz Ahmed) has a large sample of the symbiote contained while Eddie Brock is trying to come to terms with whatever’s happened to him. We’re also gifted with a lot of flipped cars and a chase scene for us to get excited about the action. But it all ends with “everyone having their own demons”, as Brock is screaming, losing his mind.

We also get our first look at Michelle Williams as Ann Weying in a brief clip. Weying has been known in the comics to be Brock’s ex-wife and even has a turn as She-Venom. But one of the stand-outs of the trailer is Hardy’s accent. It threw me off guard the first time I heard it! But in seriousness, there doesn’t seem to be anything too exciting in the teaser. For me, it doesn’t whet my appetite for more. I’m also down for some more performances by Tom Hardy so I’ll still watch. Enough from me – you need to take a look for yourselves!
