Vandal Savage, Arthur Darvill as time traveler Rip Hunter, Hawkman and Hawkgirl breaking out their maces, The Atom shrinking down and flying through super tiny spaces — Legends of Tomorrow looks absolutely amazing.

This is our first official look at the series, which will premiere on January 21st and then run on Thursday nights. It appears that a part of their adventure will see them accidentally screwing with their own timelines in a way so that, for instance, Dr. Martin Stein (Victor Garber) was never married, which is something that will devastate him. Perhaps this phenomenon is what Sara Lance (Caity Lotz) is referring to when she says, “If we have the power to change the world, don’t you think we have the power to change our own fate?”

We also get a nice nod to Superman and Batman in the trailer, with Rip Hunter saying, “I’ve seen Men of Steel die and Dark Knights fall.” Beyond being a fun easter egg, this is also a very nice way to subtly wrap those two iconic heroes into the CW DC Comics universe. At the very least, we know that they exist at some point.

With that said, it’s entirely possible we’ll get some wonderful nods to other storylines for each of these heroes, with Rip Hunter telling them of the adventures he knows they have in their futures — at least where he comes from.

When heroes alone are not enough… the world needs legends. Having seen the future, one he will desperately try to prevent from happening, time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter is tasked with assembling a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat — one in which not only is the planet at stake, but all of time itself. Can this ragtag team defeat an immortal threat unlike anything they have ever known? DC’S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW stars Victor Garber (“The Flash,” “Alias”); Brandon Routh (“Arrow,” “Superman Returns”); Arthur Darvill (“Doctor Who”); Caity Lotz (“Arrow”); Ciarra Renee (“Pippin”); Franz Drameh (“Edge of Tomorrow”); with Dominic Purcell (“The Flash,” “Prison Break”); and Wentworth Miller (“The Flash,” “Prison Break”). Based on the characters from DC Comics, DC’S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW is from Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television, with executive producers Greg Berlanti (“Arrow,” “The Flash,” upcoming “Pan”), Marc Guggenheim (“Arrow,” “Eli Stone,” “Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters”), Andrew Kreisberg (“Arrow,” “The Flash,” “Eli Stone,” “Warehouse 13”) and Sarah Schechter (“Arrow,” “The Flash,” upcoming “Pan”).
