We have returned to the world where fairytales come to life…Storybrooke, the home of Snow White, Belle, the Seven Dwarfs, a Savior, and an Evil Queen.  Once Upon A Time Season 6 premiered this past Sunday and things have been stirred up in Storybrooke with the addition of some untold stories.

If you recall last season, we were introduced to the Land of Untold Stories.  After making a deal with the Dark One, Mr. Gold (Robert Carlyle), Mr. Hyde (Sam Witwer) got the keys to Storybrooke and brought the untold stories to Storybrooke.  Regina (Lana Parrilla) was still dealing with Robin’s (Sean Maguire) death, and separated herself from the Evil Queen within.  With help from Emma (Jennifer Morrison), Regina thought she had destroyed her.

Our new season begins with the introduction of Aladdin (Deniz Akdeniz), who was a Savior.  He is bent and broken, and Jafar (Oded Fehr) loves it! He reminded Aladdin that saviors don’t get to life happily ever after!  Jafar is by far one of my favorite villains, so I can’t wait to see more.

So, Hyde announced his arrival as a ship floated through the air over Storybrook carrying his friends to the Enchanted Forest.  The gang made their way into the forest to see who has landed.  While searching through the debris, Emma has a vision that rattled her, literally.  She insisted to everyone that she is okay, but Snow (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Hook knew better.

Dr. Jekyll created a device to help capture Mr. Hyde, but when the time came for Emma and Regina to attack Hyde, Emma froze up. She had the vision again and began shaking.  Hyde saw her in distress and mocked her.  Clearly he knew that she was unhinged and he might also know what is causing Emma to fall apart.

Later, Emma visited Hyde for answers.  He told her to visit an oracle who could give her answers. The oracle showed her the full version of the vision.  Emma was in a sword fight with a tall cloaked figure and killed.  The oracle told her that she cannot change her destiny.  Emma returned to Hyde and asked how to stop it.  Hyde didn’t know.  Instead he told her that every Savior has a Villain.  And to consider that maybe her willingness to help everyone is the reason her story ends.

Hyde told Gold about the Temple of Morpheus and the sands that could allow Gold enter Belle’s dream.  Gold was greeted by Morpheus (Giles Matthey) and was led to Rumpelstiltskin’s castle, where Belle was his servant and the two fell in love.  Gold transformed back to Rumpelstiltskin to relive that time with Belle.  After the two kiss, Belle’s memories returned, but she was hesitant to return with Gold.  Morpheus appeared and revealed that he is actually their son and to warn her against returning to Gold.  He provesd who he is when he kisses her on the forehead and Belle wakes up.  Just before returning to Storybrooke, Belle told Gold she will not reconcile with him.

Regina allowed Zelena to move with her but there was still tension there between them. Zelena told Regina that Robin left her a feather from one of his arrows, but Zelena couldn’t find it.  Regina was frustrated, but not about the feather. She blamed Zelena for Robin’s death and was having a hard time getting over it.  Zelena revealed that she is upset with Regina for getting rid of the Evil Queen.  Zelena decided it was best if she left Regina’s home.

In the Enchanted Forest, Snow and David (Josh Dallas) found the refugees, but they were scared.  Snow told them that they want to help them and invited them to Granny’s.   Hook was also at Granny’s when Emma found him and assured him that she is okay.  Emma is such a great actor.

After talking to Snow, Regina realized that the Evil Queen made her focus too much on everyone else and not her own story. Now that she is free, Regina is ready to start a new story with a better ending.  Snow and Regina are really bonding now…

Zelena entered her new home to find Evil Queen sitting in the dining room…She invited Zelena to have a drink and bond with her sister.

I think of all of our heroes, Regina will have the best story. She had always struggled with her dark side and now that it’s been separated from her, it will be interesting to see her overcome that once and for all.   Regina has had the saddest story. She finds her light and cannot win.  Of all of the characters, Regina deserves the best story this season.  And I have hope that Robin will return…someway, somehow…it is a fairy tale after all.  Anything is possible.

Emma and Gold appear to be going down a familiar path…as they do every season.   With the addition of many new stories, I hope the writers could find new obstacles for Emma . If not, then we will see Emma struggle with a problem that she won’t tell anyone about until it’s too late; but then everyone unites to help Emma and she overcomes her obstacle. Sidenote: Did anyone else feel the chemistry between Hook and Emma? No?  Me either…

And the same goes for Mr. Gold. As before, Gold will do everything he can to win his family back, but something will come around that forces Gold to be the Dark One again. By the end of the season, Gold will do something that surprises everyone and he will be good again…until the next season premiere.

I thought both characters would have both learned by now to lean on their families and to let down their walls and ask for help…especially Emma!  Secrets don’t make friends.

I’d like to see Henry have a leading story this season. I mean, he is the main young person of the show, and  he doesn’t do much to except remind his moms of the goodness within them.  He has always been a good kid…he needs to be like other young people and be bad every once in awhile.  His moms keep making the mistakes and he learns from them, but I’d like to see him get in touch with his dark side.  He also needs more people his age in Storybrooke.  Hanging out only with your moms and your grandparents has to be so boring!

There is so much potential for new directions for the OUAT heroes.  With the addition of the Untold Stories, I hope to see the heroes challenged in new ways. And new villains.   Mr. Hyde is a refreshing villain, but how long will he be around.  Can Zelena and Gold be pushed even further as villains? And The Evil Queen. I for one am happy the Evil Queen will be more present.  Lana Parrilla is amazing when she is evil.  However, I did think it was a setback for Regina to blame Zelena for Robin’s death.  But I guess that just was to reset the rift between the two now that Regina is good, right?

Speaking of Untold Stories, the possibilities are endless.  Adapting them for this particular show should be easy, but how many of these stories are we actually going to see?  Will any of these characters stick around?  It would be nice to see some new faces in Storybrooke; especially since Red is Oz with Dorothy; we hardly see the dwarfs anymore; Mulan and Aurora are off somewhere living life; Is August/Pinocchio still frozen? Or can he come back too? And whatever happened to the Mad Hatter???  So many beloved characters, such a waste of storylines…

We’ll see how this goes.  At some point, these people have to get their happily ever after…or what’s the point???
