Once upon a time, a pirate helped a princess get home.  Hook helps Jasmine and Aladdin find Agrabah…and love.  Gideon has a new plan for Emma.

Last week, Gideon set the Nautilus asail with Hook aboard.  Emma thought Hook left her for good.  

Emma (Jennifer Morrison) tells her dad, David (Josh Dallas) what happened with Hook (Colin O’Donoghue)…including the part where Hook killed David’s father.  David is more furious that Hook abandoned Emma.  

Emma is very sad, but isn’t quite sure how to deal with her feelings.  Regina (Lana Parrilla) arrives to cheer her up.  She needs Snow (Ginnifer Goodwin) to be awake for her plans.  David agrees and goes back to sleep. Emma is not up for anything fun or to talk to anyone about her feelings. She wants to dive right back into work and move on.

Hook is trapped on the Nautilus with Nemo (Tony Perez) and his crew. Gideon (Giles Matthey) used the last of the Kracken blood to make the ship go away.  Now they have to find another Kracken so Hook can go home to Emma.  Hook goes on a hunt for a Kracken, but finds Jasmine (Karen David) and Aladdin (Deniz Akdeniz) instead.

They are in the sea to get rid of the lamp once and for all.  Jasmine promises to wish for Aladdin’s freedom first.  They encountered a Kracken that almost toppled their boat.  That’s when Hook saved them.  Hook is upset though.  He needed that Kracken blood to get home.

Jasmine used a wish from Aladdin (remember, he’s a genie) to find Agrabah. They are transported to the Enchanted Forest instead.  The only thing Jasmine finds a ring in her pocket.  

The ring is a reminder of Jasmine’s failure to save Agrabah from Jafar (Oded Fehr).

The ring is Jasmine’s dowry.  It is the most precious jewel in all of Agrabah.  Jasmine’s father tells her that she cannot marry for  love. It is her duty to marry a prince. Jasmine says she wants to marry Aladdin. Jafar arrives, just after seeing Aladdin…being the Savior made Aladdin very ill.  He tells Jasmine that Aladdin is not fit for her.  Jafar wants to marry Jasmine. He demands that they be married by sundown or he will destroy Agrabah.  

Present day

Jasmine and Aladdin board the Nautilus. Hook suggests using one of Jasmine’s wishes to get back to Emma.  Aladdin tells him it may not work. They didn’t find Agrabah. Hook asks if they know who took Agrabah. Jasmine tells them it was Jafar, but Jasmine is scared of him. Hook shows them a compass that can find anyone with revenge in his heart.  He thinks that Jafar can send him back to Storybrooke.  Hook promises Jasmine that she won’t have to face Jafar alone.

Emma has packed up Hooks things and asks Henry (Jared Gilmore) to move them to the shed.  She gets a call about a fight at a local bar. Snow and Regina are waiting for her, forcing Emma to engage in a girls night out. Emma is more intrigued with how drunk her mother is and the interesting darts challenge with a group of Vikings.  

Hook misses home and Jasmine sympathizes with him.  He asks her about Aladdin, thinking that she’s thinks she’s too good for Aladdin. She tells him that it’s the other way around. She has done too many wrong things to deserve love.

Jasmine meets Ariel (JoAnna Garcia Swisher)…yes, that Ariel…the mermaid. Ariel arrives in Agrabah looking for Prince Eric (Gil McKinney).  Jasmine saves Ariel after a vendor took Ariel’s necklace as payment. The necklace is what gives Ariel her legs and her voice.  Jasmine asks Ariel if Prince Eric has an army.  Ariel says he has a navy.  Jasmine helps Ariel find Eric on the magic carpet.

Ariel and Jasmine land in Eric’s camp.  Ariel goes to him and tells him that she’s a mermaid. He says he loves mermaids…especially eating mermaids.  It’s not Eric, it’s Jafar!  He tells Jasmine that time is running out.  The only way to save Agrabah is to marry him.

Jasmine looks for a hero to save her from Jafar.  Ariel stole a vial of red powder from Jafar’s tent. She tells Jasmine to use it on Jafar.  Jafar comes for his answer.  He sends Ariel away and starts to put a spell on Agrabah.

Jasmine stops him, telling Jafar that she will marry him.  He tells her that she failed her people.  Jafar says he never wanted to marry Jasmine or rule Agrabah.  He only wanted the jewel in the ring.   The jewel has an ancient magic that protects Agrabah.  Jafar has the ring and wipes away Agrabah, leaving Jasmine alone.

On the Nautilus

The Nautilus has damage from the Kracken. The water is sinking the ship. Nemo is ready to go down with the ship.  Jasmine saves everyone with a wish.  Once they are save on an island, Nemo and his crew leave to salvage the Nautilus.  

Hook, Jasmine and Aladdin find a hut and assume that Jafar is in there.  Jasmine realizes the place belongs to Ariel and Eric.

Ariel gives a lamp to Jasmine.  They assume he’s a genie. If he is, he will be under the control of the person who summons him.  The plan is to free Jafar and make him send Hook back to Storybrooke.

When they release Jafar, they discover that the lamp is not a genie lamp…just a prison.   Jafar puts a sleeping spell on Aladdin, Hook and Ariel. Jasmine is forced to face him alone.  

Jafar taunts Jasmine about losing to him again.  She demands to know where Agrabah is. He tells her that he put the city in the ring.  The first wish did work. Jafar tries to take back the ring. Jasmine stands up to him.  She throws the vial of red powder at him and turns him into a staff.

Aladdin, Ariel and Hook wake up.  Jasmine tells them she knows how to get back to Agrabah.

Jasmine finally kisses Aladdin, her true love.  The city appears around them and Aladdin is released from his genie duties.

Emma opens up to the bartender, Aesop about her troubles.  Hook was supposed to be her true love.  And  now he’s not.  Emma cries a few tears for Hook before the bartender hands her a napkin. Regina and Snow comfort her.  She tells them that she has to move on.

Hook still can’t get home. Ariel shows him a shell that communicates with other sea shells. He just happens to have one in his things at Emma’s.  

At the same time, Emma returns home and Hooks things are still in the living room. She picks up the box and hears someone talking.  Emma opens the box and see the shell.  She hears Hook talking to her.

Hook tells her that he didn’t mean to leave.  Gideon trapped him on the Nautilus.  He says he will find his way home to her.

The bartender shows up and it’s actually Gideon. He has the Savior’s tears on the napkin. As long has he has the napkin, he can keep Hook away.  She asks what he wants. He wants her to help him kill the Black Fairy.

Thoughts…

  • Tying up loose ends a good thing.  We finally got to see Jasmine and Aladdin find their happy ending.
  • I love how all of the princesses are instant best friends when they meet.
  • A little frustration is okay.  It keeps the story fresh.  So I’m glad that Hook isn’t able to get home quickly. I guess it makes the fight to get back look like the fight of his life.  And it shows Emma just how much he loves her.
  • Emma needs to save herself.  That’s the message I took from Jasmine’s story. You have to be able to save yourself before anyone else will be able to help you
  • Oded Fehr is so awesomely bad! He’s the perfect Jafar!  Maybe we’ll get to see him in action again some day.

Aladdin is my favorite Disney movie.  I’m happy with how it was incorporated into the series.  I just miss Abu!
