Mark Wahlberg and Tom Holland in the Uncharted trailer.

Is it a Tom Holland flick if something doesn’t get leaked? Late last night, the internet couldn’t stop talking about finally getting the chance to see the trailer for Sony’s Uncharted. And this morning, it was officially released! And I gotta say, it looks a lot better than I was expecting it to. Not perfect, but better. We get the chance to see Holland as a much younger Nathan Drake and the beginning of his friendship with Victor “Sully” Sullivan (Mark Wahlberg).

This very first trailer for Uncharted really shows off the action-adventure feel we have come to know and love from Naughty Dog’s video game franchise. The trailer introduces us to how Drake becomes the treasure hunter as he unravels one of the greatest mysteries that holds a special place in his heart. But of course, treasure hunting brings its own set of enemies, including Antonio Banderas‘ currently unnamed character. And if we know anything, you don’t cross that man.

What is most surprising to me from the trailer is how similar yet different Holland’s Drake is to the role of Peter Parker. I was worried we would get a Peter Parker – Nathan Drake and I am happy to share that this feels a lot different. I am still withholding judgment until I can see the entire film. However, I have to say that Sully without a mustache is a tad bit disappointing. It isn’t like Wahlberg can’t grow one. But please, Sony, don’t CGI one on him now.

Holland, Wahlberg and Banderas are joined by Sophia Taylor Ali and Tati Gabrielle. Ruben Fleischer directed Uncharted from a script by Art Marcum, Matt Holloway and Rafe Judkins.

Uncharted drops into theaters on February 18, 2022. We’ve dropped the trailer below for you to enjoy! What do you think of this casting? Let us know in the comments below and on social media!
