It’s been a long slog for the Uncharted movie. Tom Holland signed on to play Drake something like two years ago. Well, it’s moving forward and Sony announced this week that Uncharted will be released in theaters in 2020.
This film will not follow the Naughty Dog game that so many have come to love. It’s a prequel to that game, focusing on Drake’s origins as a young treasure hunter under the guidance of Sully, who has not been cast. It was rumored for awhile that Bryan Cranston was being considered for a major role in the prequel…but that seems to have gone nowhere.
The current version of the movie will be directed by Dan Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane), following the exit of Shawn Levy. And, though the film has gone through a number of directors and some trouble with timeline, fans are still excited to see what comes out the other side. Drake is very hard to kill.
The Uncharted movie is set to hit theaters December 18, 2020.
