Today BAFTA announced the nominees for the British Academy Game Awards that will be held on April 9, 2017 at Tobacco Park in London. 50 games from UK and international developers received nominations across 16 categories.
Among the leaders are familiar titles like Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, who leads the pack with 8 nominations including Artistic Achievement, Audio Achievement, Best Game, Music, Narrative and for three of their voice actors: Nolan North (Nathan Drake), Troy Baker (Sam Drake) and Emily Rose (Elena Fisher). Indie game INSIDE is close behind, nabbing 7 nominations such as Artist Achievement, Best Game, Game Design, Music and Original Property and Firewatch receives 6 nominations including Best Game and debut Game.
Overwatch, Overcooked, The Last Guardian, and The Witness receives 4 nominations apiece. Other nominated games are The Banner Saga 2, EVE Online, LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens, No Man’s Sky, Rocket League, Stardew Valley, and Toca Hair Salon 3.
Also included in the British Academy Game Awards nominations are the finalists for the BAFTA Ones to Watch Award which showcases the “very best in young games development and design talent.” Finalists include Among the Stones, Pentagrab, and Rebound.
There is also the AMD eSports Audience Award, which is voted on by the public. Games nominated for this award are Clash Royale, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Dota 2, League of Legends, Overwatch, and Street Fighter V.
