After nearly a year without updates, we have some casting news for The Old Guard 2! On Friday, Deadline announced Uma Thurman and Henry Golding will join The Old Guard sequel’s cast; here’s what we know so far.

Initially released in July 2020, The Old Guard was one of Netflix’s most popular films. Based on a graphic novel series by Greg Rucka and Leandro Fernández, the film follows a team of immortal mercenaries fighting to keep their identities secret after a new member joins them.

While the sequel news broke back in August 2021, this is the first official casting we have. Thurman and Golding join returning cast members, including Charlize Theron, KiKi Layne, Marwan Kenzari, Luca Marinelli and Chiwetel Ejiofor. While Gina Prince-Bythewood directed the first movie, Victoria Mahoney will take the reins for The Old Guard 2.

Thurman and Golding are no strangers to action movies. In addition to her turn as Beatrix Kiddo, a.k.a. The Bride, in the Kill Bill series, she played Poison Ivy in Batman & Robin. While it’s not an action movie, she was also recently cast in the upcoming adaptation of Red, White & Royal Blue.

While he’s best known for Crazy Rich Asians, Golding starred in both Guy Ritchie‘s The Gentlemen and as Snake Eyes in the G.I. Joe adaptation. Fans will see him next in Netflix’s upcoming version of Jane Austen‘s Persuasion.

How excited are you about The Old Guard casting announcement after all this time? Stay tuned for updates as more news comes out.
