The Netflix adaptation of Uglies has three new cast members! Deadline announced the additions to the dystopian film earlier this week.

Keith Powers, Brianne Tju and Chase Stokes all signed on to star opposite actress Joey King. There’s no word on specific roles, but King will most likely play the lead Tally Youngblood. In addition to her undetermined role, King will executive produce the film alongside author Scott Westerfeld.

Powers starred alongside Chris Pratt this summer in The Tomorrow War, and can be seen next in Netflix’s rom-com The Perfect Find and the neo-noir thriller Door Mouse. He also had a role in F. Gary Gray’s Straight Outta Compton

Tju is no stranger to YA book adaptations; her most recent role was in Amazon’s I Know What You Did Last Summer, which premiered earlier this week. She’ll appear next in the drama Three Months as well as The Cow alongside Winona Ryder.

Stokes is also no stranger to teen dramas: Netflix’s popular series Outer Banks. He also guest stars in Peacock’s One Of Us Is Lying as well as Stranger Things.

The Uglies series by Westerfeld began in 2005 and continues with new spinoff installations as recently as this year. Uglies takes place in a post-scarcity dystopian world where everyone is “ugly” until they receive extensive cosmetic surgery at age sixteen, making them “pretty”. After her friends show her the downsides of becoming a Pretty, teenager Tally Youngblood rebels against their society’s forced conformity.

That’s all the news we have so far on the Uglies adaptation, but as someone who devoured the books as a teen I can’t wait to hear more!
