The Dark Pictures Anthology Series

Just because it’s Valentine’s Day doesn’t mean things can’t get a bit spooky. If you are looking for a spooky co-op story-based game to enjoy with your significant other, look no further than The Dark Pictures Anthology series. Whether you start with the original, Man of Medan, or go with the recent installment, The Devil in Me, you are sure to have a great time. Stardew Valley

Another video game that might surprise you with multiplayer options for Valentine’s Day is Stardew Valley. Grandpa’s farm can host up to several of your friends, which makes it the best place to work together to save Pelican Town. Not only is Stardew Valley extremely relaxing, but it’s challenging in its own ways, so having someone to help out is always a plus. And being able to have up to four people on the farm means you can invite little ones to enjoy the game by your side, making it fun for the whole family. — Julia Roth

It Takes Two

Play together as May and Cody, who struggle to keep their marriage together in It Takes Two. After the two magically turn into dolls, they must work together to become human again and reunite with their daughter. Puzzle your way through exciting and visually stunning levels, from a tree filled with militant squirrels to a child’s playroom. This romantic platformer was designed with teamwork in mind and must be played with two players. With couch coop and online options, play whether you are close together or far apart. This game will make you laugh, cry and might just give you a different perspective on your relationship. — Cassie Holguin

Cuphead

For the couple that is up for a challenge, Cuphead is a notoriously difficult run-and-gun-style platformer. Take on one boss right after another as Cuphead and Mugman, who make the mistake of dealing with the devil. The game is styled like cartoons from the 1930s, which gives it a fun and unique feel. Cuphead delivers non-stop run-and-jump action along with a pretty sweet adrenaline rush. Even sweeter, this game allows one player to stream and share the game with a friend, so you only need one copy. A word of caution: this one is likely to test the strength of your relationship because it is not for the faint of heart or those who quit easily. — Cassie Holguin

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is a natural 20 for any Dungeons & Dragons-loving duo. This Borderlands spin-off has the signature comic-style graphics the franchise is known for. It is a unique mashup of a first-person shooter and a role-playing video game, along with good old pen-and-paper D&D. The variety of gameplay alone will surely make both of you happy. The game is hilarious, and the entire all-star cast does an exceptional job, especially Ashly Burch as Tina. Tiny Tina’s Wonderland has everything, including guns and magic, so find your partner and get ready for a wild ride. — Cassie Holguin

Trine Series

There are some deliciously beautiful games on this list, but Trine takes the cake in the visual stunner category. This gorgeous side-scrolling puzzle platformer has you venture through one fantastical level after another as the wizard, thief or knight. Each character has unique abilities, and players can easily switch between the three depending on which ability is needed. Glide through the forest, conjure up items or smash some skellies with your bestie. Though this game can be played solo, teamwork makes it a more rewarding experience. Luckily, the series has five installments, so you have plenty of adventures ahead of you. — Cassie Holguin
