The second season of The Witcher is upon us. The first episode drops on December 17th. We’ve been preparing in two ways. First, we’ve got a Witcher season one refresher out that you really should read. Second, and most importantly, we’ve been replaying this “Henry Cavill Reads The Witcher” promo video that Netflix dropped last year ad nauseam. We think you should too so we’ve republished it! Enjoy.
December 12, 2019 – I’ve got feelings about this video. The Witcher is coming out next week, December 20th. Netflix thought it would be a good idea to have the Witcher himself, Henry Cavill, read a selection of the story to a camera. The video is just Cavill, a comfy chair, some scotch (I like to believe it’s scotch), and a lot of hard eye contact. A good idea indeed.
Cavill who plays the lead character, monster hunter and witcher, Geralt of Rivia, reads from The Last Wish by Andrzej Sapkowski. The Last Wish is the first of two collections that are set before the main novels. He is reading the passage where we first meet Geralt.
Go ahead, get yourself real cozy and listen. It’s fun. Enjoy the hard eye contact.
Based on the best-selling fantasy series, The Witcher is an epic tale of fate and family. Geralt of Rivia, a solitary monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts. But when destiny hurtles him toward a powerful sorceress, and a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together.
