Welcome to this week’s installment of F2P Friday, where we highlight our favorite Free-2-Play games. Sometimes, hidden gems fall through the cracks. This is where we dig for you and feature a new F2P game we know you will enjoy every week. This week, we play Tricky Doors, a hidden object puzzle game with varied escape room-style mechanics.

Tricky Doors

You can open a lot of different doors. Behind each door, you will find hostile and friendly worlds and familiar and exotic landscapes. Your task is always the same — you need to leave the place where the game sent you, this time through a portal, to move forward. Solve puzzles and find hidden objects. Many of them will be familiar to you. Some of them you’ll see for the first time. Can you use all of them to find a way out? Challenge your quick-wittedness.

The Basics

Let’s get down to the basics of Tricky Doors by developer Five-BN Games. At its core, Tricky Doors is a captivating game that offers a variety of puzzles. Find a creative way to get out of each room. The controls are easy to master with the point-and-click game mechanics, but deciphering what is clickable in the environment can take some time. The minigame puzzles are randomized, with a few different variations of answers that make any replays feel fresh.

The minigames are where the puzzle difficulty ramps up the most. Most story puzzles happen within the environment and require basic, novice-level logic leaps to solve. There are options to use hints or skip minigames with coins, but the only way to refresh your coin bank is with microtransactions, which makes the game no longer free.

Why Should I Play?

Why should you play Tricky Doors? This is the perfect game for anyone looking for a classic hidden object puzzle game with modern mechanics. While the overall tone of the game appears dark, there are levels where the artwork is downright cheery, making it a good choice for any time of year. There’s even a Christmas tree level to start, just in time for the holidays. Most importantly, this fun-free game is available on most consoles and mobile.

You can wander through the interdimensional shores of Tricky Doors for free on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Android, iOS and on PC via Steam
