Van Helsing, Tricia Helfer

Tricia Helfer is returning to Syfy in the network series, Van Helsing.   The former Battlestar Galactica star is playing the most iconic vampire character of all time, Dracula.

Syfy fans remember Helfer fondly as Number Six in the reboot of BSG.  This marks Helfer’s return to the Syfy network since staring in the mini-series Ascension.  She starred in Lucifer for the past two years playing a lawyer possessed by the Goddess of Creation.  So this isn’t her first time playing such a powerful character.

Van Helsing is a story about Vanessa Helsing (Kelly Overton), daughter of famous vampire hunter Abraham Van Helsing. Vanessa and her friends live an world overrun with vampires.  According to THR, the fourth season will dive into vampire lore as Vanessa continues her fight to reclaim the world from vampires. The show also stars Jonathan Scarfe, Christopher Heyerdahl, Neal McDonough, Vincent Gale, Rukiya Bernard, and Aleks Paunovic.

Chad Oakes, executive producer and co-chairman of Nomadic Pictures, said,  “We’re thrilled to welcome the talented Tricia Helfer to our Van Helsing family.  She will be a fierce and unstoppable Dark One as the battle between good and evil reaches new heights.”

Helfer is very good at being bad. Her portrayal of Cyclon bad girl Six is riveting. This marks the first time Dracula has been portrayed as a female character.  The casting is perfect!

Van Helsing returns to Syfy later this year.
