CinemaCon Gets Animated (in 3D!)
Attendees at Paramount’s presentation at CinemaCon in Las Vegas got the first real look at the studio’s animated origin story when they screened the first extended trailer for Transformers One. It is the first animated Transformers film in almost 40 years and, apparently, we’ll be able to see it in 3D.
An Origin Story
Directed by Josh Cooley, the film is the long-awaited story of how Orion Pax and D-16 went from besties to sworn enemies and became Optimus Prime and Megatron. It stars Chris Hemsworth as Orion Pax, with Brian Tyree Henry voicing the role of D-16. Along for the ride is Scarlett Johansson as Elita-1 and Keegan-Michael Key as B-127. Not to mention the voice talents of Steve Buscemi, Laurence Fishburne and Jon Hamm.
Big Stars On The Big Stage
Deadline reports that Scarlett Johansson (via video message) introduced Chris Hemsworth to the assembled crowd at the Colosseum at Ceasar’s Palace. Hemsworth addressed the amped-up crowd saying, “I am so excited to play a young Optimus Prime and reveal a side of this character that audiences haven’t seen before.” He was then joined by Brian Tyree Henry and the duo introduced the trailer. It won’t officially drop for us mere mortals until April 18th.

Hemsworth and Tyree then introduced a scene from the film that was in 3D. In the scene, Orion Pax and D-16 hide out in a train and scrap with Elita-1 as the train speeds off and crashes through the surface. “It’s beautiful,” says Orion Pax who begs Elita to listen to what he has to say, “We know where the matrix of leadership is… We found a message… It will change all of our lives.” The story takes place on Cybertron, which has been described as a character in itself.
And if that all makes sense to you, then you are a true Autobot!
The movie hits theatres on September 13th. Are you excited for Transformers One? Let us know what you think in the comments.
