What? The Strain is about ancient, evil vampirism? Hasn’t the fatigue of all the recent Vampire movies, books and television shows seeped into every pore of your body? You hoped we were done with Vampires, didn’t you? Well Guillermo Del Toro doesn’t care about your hopes! He only cares about your fears! He says, “NAAAAAAAAAAYYYYY! I SHALL BRING THE WORLD ANOTHER SHOW ABOUT VAMPIRISM! EXCEPT THIS TIME, GOOD. AND SCARY. DID I MENTION GOOD AND SCARY?”

Watch this first full trailer of The Strain coming in July on FX. It looks perfect. It also has David Bradley in it. You know, the scary guy from Hogwarts that likes cats, Argus Filch. Plus we get a little Samwise Gamgee from Sean Astin. Yay.

Synopsis from FX:

A thriller that tells the story of Dr. Ephraim Goodweather, the head of the Center for Disease Control Canary Team in New York City. He and his team are called upon to investigate a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism. As the strain spreads, Eph, his team, and an assembly of everyday New Yorkers, wage war for the fate of humanity itself.
