Spider-Man Homecoming

It’s been an ongoing gag that Tom Holland spoils things. Whether it be things that happen in Avengers: Infinity War or telling Chris Pratt the entire plot of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom before he even got the script. He falls so easily to reporter question traps that Benedict Cumberbatch went on tour with him in order to make sure he didn’t spoil anything. So Marvel has used his spoilery ways to their advantage and announced the title of the next Spider-Man film! Spoilers, beware!

In a message on Holland’s Instagram, he apologized to fans about the lack of updates. Since the ending of Infinity War has many fans pretty upset that their beloved Peter Parker is gone, they’ve been clamoring for news. In his apology video, he confessed that he didn’t have any news, but said he got the script today. He held up his tablet and showed the world the brand new title of the film. Spider-Man: Far From Home.

Now that’s the type of title to get fans a little excited and pretty nervous. Given the fact that we last saw him turning to dust on Thanos’s home world Titan, he is quite a long way from home. It’s still unclear as to when the film will be set, but given that the follow up to Infinity War will be out next year before his film, it’s safe to assume that Parker will be back on Earth. But a very, very changed person. You don’t come back from fighting Thanos and turning to dust and maintain that laid-back high school life. You just can’t. However, since he is Peter Parker, we’re sure a smile will come back on his face.

I think this film will be a great way to mature Peter Parker a bit. He has to remain fun of course, since he appeals heavily to children. But given that we’ve see Tony Stark grapple with PTSD since the battle in New York, it’s safe to say that the events on Titan are going age Peter. But we have to wait to see what happens in the next Avengers film, since he is currently “dead”. A fact that Holland himself pointed out when talking about the Spider-Man sequel in his announcement video. Fingers crossed we get more from our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man!
