In an interview with Variety‘s Film Awards Editor Clayton Davis, Tom Holland almost spilled the beans about Marvel‘s Spider-Man 3. Thankfully Tom holds in all that excitement and doesn’t spoil the ending for us. But he does share that this film is the most ambitious standalone superhero movie ever made and they are succeeding at bringing it to life. He has never seen a superhero film like this one and he is beyond happy that he just happens to be Spider-Man.

Tom also shared that filming has begun on the project, but they have quite a lot more time left before they are done. While I am always hopeful that Tom will let something slide, this time, I am happy he kept it in. From everything we have heard so far, this really could be the biggest project Marvel has yet to work on. We already know that there will be a large cast, including Benedict Cumberbatch, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon and Marisa Tomei. But we also know that both Jamie Foxx and Alfred Molina are reprising Electro and Doc Ock’s roles from their respective franchises.

So what could this mean? Well, we know that in the MCU, our heroes have already spent time bouncing through timelines. So what would stop one of Spider-Man’s many villains from doing the same? Or is this Marvel’s chance to introduce the Spider-Verse into their canon franchise? This gives me hope that we will see Andrew Garfield and Toby Maguire don the suits for one more round. It also opens up the possibility that we will see other members of the Spidey family, including Spider-Woman, Spider-Girl, Mile Morales and even maybe Spider-Gwen.

Spider-Man 3 is set to swing into theaters on December 17, 2021. What do you want to see most in the upcoming Spider-Man 3? Will Spidey and his friends go time hoping, or are the villains coming to them? Let us know your theories in the comments below!
