Venom

The new Venom trailer was released today and let’s just say we’re in for a crazy ride. There is so much more Venom in this trailer, I’m almost afraid they gave everything away.

The trailer starts by introducing Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy), a New York City reporter who’s doing some investigating into a facility run by Life Foundation. The company is apparently doing experiments on humans. Dr. Carlton Drake (Riz Ahmed) explains that he is creating a higher life form that combines human beings with symbiotes. Brock breaks in to get a closer look and comes away with more than a story. He goes through some major changes and is forced to give into the symbiote known as Venom.

There’s lots of fights as Dr. Drake tries to get the symbiote back. Eddie continually apologizes for everything Venom does to survive. Brock starts to accept how good he feels being a part with Venom and tries to use his powers for good. The real eye opener is the fight between Venom and a big bad that is not Carnage, but Riot. That footage looks so cool! You will also see other human/symbiote hybrids in the trailer that makes you wonder, how many symbiotes does Dr. Drake have?

I have to say, I’m pretty excited about this film. Not only because of Hardy, but because I’ve always known Venom as a villain. And this movie makes him more of an anti-hero. Hardy also shines a different light on this version of Eddie Brock, making the story not only about Venom. Which is what most comic book fans are looking for. Perhaps this Eddie is more likable and easier to root for.

Check out the trailer below!

Venom is directed by Ruben Fleischer. The film stars Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, Jenny Slate, Woody Harrelson and more.

Venom arrives in theaters on October 5th, 2018.
