Netflix and Capcom gave us our first glimpse at the new upcoming series surrounding the Resident Evil franchise. The official trailer for Resident Evil Infinite Darkness aired during Capcom’s show at the Tokyo Game Show 2020. Executive producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi shared that the CGI episodic series will be airing sometime in 2021. The series will include fan favorites Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield.

Other than the inclusion of those two, there isn’t much else we know about Resident Evil Infinite Darkness. The CGI in the trailer looks terrific and really holds up well against what we see created in the RE Engine. Leon has a fresh new suit and Claire has upgraded her iconic red jacket. The trailer opens with Claire investigating an abandoned house before cutting to Leon saving someone in what looks to be the police station or another house.

What we do know is that this is completely different from the other Resident Evil series Netflix is working on. While I am excited for the other series, Resident Evil Infinite Darkness is what I have been waiting for. For me, the live action Resident Evil films never quite hit the mark. I am hopeful that this series will still live within the games’ canon. It would be great to see them continue to expand the story outside of the games through other media.

Resident Evil Infinite Darkness will stream on Netflix in 2021. Let us know in the comments and on social media how excited you are for this new series!
