Last year Netflix experienced huge success with the teenage romcom To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before. Based on the book series by Jenny Han, we followed the wistful teenager Lara Jean as her secret love letters were sent out to her crushes. Hijinks ensued and love was ultimately found. Or was it?
In December of last year, Netflix announced that a sequel, based on the second book in the trilogy, would begin production. Since then, things have been relatively quiet. Too quiet in fact that fans were starting to wonder if the film would even debut. (Of course it would). However, in Love Actually style, the main cast of the upcoming film finally announced the release date of the film. To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You would come to Netflix on February 12th of 2020. Just in time for Valentine’s Day!
That wasn’t all. Oh no, they had one more announcement to make. A third film was in the works. That’s right! To All the Boys: Always and Forever, Lara Jean is currently in production. So not only do fans have the sequel to look forward to, they have a third film to get excited for. The story of Lara Jean would be complete! There is currently no release date for the third film.
I was a big fan of the first film. In fact, I was so infatuated with the film that I read the entire trilogy in a weekend. Needless to say, I was excited that they would be filming a second movie. The question always remains though – will it be able to live up to the first movie? With so much hype, is it possible to satisfy fans? We’ll have to wait and see in half a year when the sequel debuts.
What do you think of the news? Are you excited? Let us know! Be sure to come back to Geek Girl Authority for more pop culture fun. To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You debuts on Netflix February 12th, 2020.
