Well, what is a great day for Marvel and Daredevil fans is a terrible day for DC Comics and Teen Titans fans.
TNT President Kevin Reilly, at TCA (Television Critics Association), said earlier today that, “We decided it wasn’t where we wanted to go.”
And with that simple line, all hopes of seeing Nightwing, Starfire, Raven and others teaming up in a live-action series evaporated. That’s not to mean that Akiva Goldsman and Marc Haimes, the series co-creators, won’t try to develop it with another network in the future, it just means that it’s development is paused for the foreseeable future.
This news broke on Deadline earlier today, which also featured a quick description of the series-that-was-to-be, saying it was to “revolve around the eponymous group of young superheroes-to-be from the DC Universe. The action series centers on Dick Grayson — better known for his alter ego as Robin — who emerges from the shadow of Batman to become Nightwing, the leader of a fearless band of new superheroes including Starfire, Raven and many others.”
R.I.P. TNT’s Teen Titans. We’ll raise our glasses to a future on another network.
