TITANS Casts Superboy for Second Season

During the first season of Titans, Superboy (aka Conner Kent) made a faceless appearance. He made a small cameo as he escaped the CADMUS facility with a familiar canine companion. Well, he’s officially been cast. Welcome to the DC Universe, Joshua Orpin

The super powered teenager will be joining the green-lit second season of the series. According to the official description, Kent is an “angsty teenager of steel searching for purpose and the truth about his past. While looking for answers, he crashes into the world of the Titans where he finds an unlikely home and surrogate family as well as revelations that carry more complications than he ever bargained for.”

Superboy was first introduced in the comics in The Adventures of Superman #500 from 1993. He was a genetically engineered clone of a metahuman with human origins. Typically his powers are pretty on par with Superman’s, given that in most incarnations he has some of his DNA. Seeing that we saw him escaping CADMUS, it appears that his origin makes him a clone.

This is pretty exciting! Superboy is such a fun character. Though having a bit of teen angst does bring a bit more drama. How will a clone handle having Superman’s powers while going through puberty? We’ll have to wait to see. Admittedly I’m a bit more excited for Krypto to be a part of the live-action universe but I digress. It’ll be nice to see the Titans continue to expand their roster and shake things up a bit!
