Thunderbolts Casting Updates

This isn’t the first casting update for Thunderbolts. Earlier in January 2024, it was announced that Steven Yeun was no longer involved in the movie. Previously, it had been rumored that Yeun would be playing the antagonist Sentry. According to the Deadline, that part has now been recast, with Lewis Pullman stepping into the role.

Little is known about the exact plot of Thunderbolts. In the panels of Marvel Comics, the Thunderbolts are a team of reformed villains who are often assigned morally ambiguous missions. Guessing whether or not they’re really reformed? Well, that’s just part of the fun.

As previously revealed by Marvel Studios, the big screen adaptation of the team’s roster will include returning characters from across the Marvel Cinematic Universe. These include longtime MCU character Winter Solider (Sebastian Stan). Also appearing on the roster is Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen) from Ant-Man and the Wasp and U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russell) from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. And, rounding out the team are three characters introduced in Black Widow. These are Red Guardian (David Harbour), Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) and Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko).

Introduced in TFatWS, “Val” (as she doesn’t like to be called) was last seen in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. She’ll be joined by General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross (Harrison Ford), a role previously played in the MCU by William HurtThunderbolts is currently scheduled for release on July 25, 2025.
