Thor: Ragnarok is scheduled to come out in 2017, right in the middle Marvel’s Phase Three, which is shaping up to be a doozy of a weird one. Other than heroes fighting each other, Civil War seems to be a pretty straightforward, grounded superhero film. But then there’s Doctor Strange, which will be anything but that. Then we get Guardians of the Galaxy, vol. 2, which will more than likely be just as weird as the first one, if not weirder.

So that’s where Thor: Ragnarok finds itself.

And it sounds like we may have confirmation that it’s getting THAT much weirder. In an interview with Empire magazine (as seen on CBM) Kevin Feige says that their third Thor movie will “take place within the cosmos primarily which is to say, frankly, very little Earth.”

Very little earth. Thor is leaving Midgard to stretch his wings towards the stars. Frankly, this sounds like something the franchise needs as Thor is such a powerful character, tethering him to earth always seems a bit restrictive.

We also already know that Hulk is in this movie and that there is an element of this being some cosmic road trip film of some sort. Is this how they sneak in some Planet Hulk action? And with Guardians being right before that, maybe we get a post credits scene about it! Doesn’t make much sense for the subtitle “Ragnarok,” but perhaps they discover that the Raganarok is coming to Earth and the rest of the Nine Realms in the form of Thanos and his Infinity Gauntlet.

We’ve got a solid theory there folks.
