It’s finally here, Marvel fans! The entertainment juggernaut dropped the official teaser for Taika Waititi‘s Thor: Love and Thunder on Monday. Folks, it’s a thing of unadulterated love and plenty of thunder.
Here’s the synopsis for the movie per Marvel.com:
“The film finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey, unlike anything he’s ever faced — a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who — to Thor’s surprise — inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor.
Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.”

The teaser also showcases Russell Crowe as Zeus and King Valkyrie ruling over New Asgard while clad in a snazzy suit. Peter Quill, a.k.a. Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), returns to offer sage advice to Thor as he begins his soul-searching journey.
While Quill advises Thor to gaze into the eyes of the one he loves, we see the former lock eyes with Mantis (Pom Klementieff). Does this mean we’ll get a burgeoning Star-Lord/Mantis romance in Thor: Love and Thunder? What about Gamora? There’s a good chance I misinterpreted that scene, and he was merely staring at his Guardians family, a.k.a. Mantis, Drax (Dave Bautista), Nebula (Karen Gillan), Rocket (voiced by Bradley Cooper) and Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel).
We glimpse the breathtaking locales our titular hero visits, including one still with Korg, plucked straight from the comic book pages and complemented by Guns N’ Roses’ “Sweet Child O’ Mine,” keeping in tune with Marvel’s penchant for classic rock.
I love what Waititi did with Thor: Ragnarok, and he’ll undoubtedly wow us with his knack for balancing snappy humor and heartfelt moments. I’m also excited to see the film further explore the hilarious dynamics between Thor and Peter Quill. Plus, Jane Foster as the Mighty Thor looks all kinds of badass.
Thor: Love and Thunder stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tessa Thompson, Chris Pratt, Taika Waititi, Christian Bale and Russell Crowe. Take a gander at the official poster and watch the teaser below!
