Peacock’s adaptation of Twisted Metal continues to add to its top-tier cast. This week, the streamer announced that Thomas Haden Church will be joining Anthony Mackie and Stephanie Beatriz in the comedic half-hour live-action series. Peacock is working alongside Sony Pictures Television, PlayStation Productions and Universal Television, with Michael Jonathan Smith serving as the showrunner.

Church joins Twisted Metal as Agent Stone, a cold and unyielding post-apocalyptic highway patrolman. He rules the road with his silver tongue and a twisted iron fist. Nothing will stand in his way as he sets his sights on prosecuting even the most minor crimes with the harshest of judgments. And who might fall into that category? Mackie’s John Doe and Beatriz Quiet. We can’t imagine that he will allow Doe and Quiet to fly under the radar as they cause havoc from settlement to settlement.

Twisted Metal promises high-octane action and laughs as Doe, the smart-ass, motor-mouth Milkman who can talk just as fast as he can drive. Unfortunately, he can’t remember anything about his past. Does he have a family? What really happened? That is all in the past and Doe’s only goal now is to survive in this world. And then a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make his wish of finding a community come true falls right into his lap.

Seriously, Twisted Metal keeps getting better and better. Mackie, Beatriz and Church are phenomenal and we can’t wait to see them bring this adaptation to life. Adaptations of video games can be, well, rough. Some series, like The Witcher and Arcane, shoot for the stars and hit them. Others fall way short. Our hope is that this one hits the stars and then some. And at this point, it’s looking pretty good.

A release date has yet to be set for Twisted Metal; so be sure to check back for more news! What do you think of Chruch’s casting? Let us know in the comments below and on social media!
