This Major HARRY POTTER Character Will Join FANTASTIC BEASTS 2

Today we learned that a major character in the Harry Potter franchise will be joining Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. Thanks to PopCulture.com, we now know that our favorite Transfiguration professor, Minerva McGonagall will be joining the film. This is really exciting and confusing! Here’s what we’ve learned so far.

According to the site, Irish actress Fiona Glascott will be stepping into the Professor’s shoes for the film. Glascott is known for her roles in Goldfish Memory, Bird in a Box, Brooklyn, and appearances on shows such as Casualty, The Musketeers, and more. It’s unknown how large her role will be but we can’t imagine it’s too big, given the large scope of the film already. However, it’s incredibly exciting to learn that she’ll be in it!

One issue that comes up, however, is how she’s in the film in the first place. Her canonical birthday is October 4th, 1935. This film will take place in 1926-1927. So McGonagall shouldn’t even be alive at this point. With J.K. Rowling writing the script, it seems odd that she would just wash away the Professor’s birthday just to include her in the film, right? It’s possible that they could gloss over it but hardcore fans will probably be left confused. Frankly, I’m still confused myself and can’t work out how it could be overlooked. But we’ll have to wait and see, now won’t we?
