Things Are Going Terribly Wrong in the New GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS Teaser

Erin Lynch

Today, we received a small teaser from Godzilla: King of the Monsters and it’s a bit terrifying. Revealed on their Twitter, we can see that things aren’t looking too hopeful for our young protagonist. In fact, things are going terribly, terribly wrong and she’s petrified.

In the teaser Madison (Millie Bobby Brown) is seemingly stuck in a room with an old radio. She tries asking if anyone is there only to receive buzzing. She tries a few times before asking for Monach, the secret corporation that knows more about monsters than they let on. When the reply comes through, she’s met with horrible noises. We hear a loud heartbeat. A man calling out for mayday. Explosions. Screeches. Screams of terror. It’s all too much for Madison as she cries out. It ends abruptly and we’re told to “Reach Monach”.

From there you can discover the new website and Twitter built for us to explore what they’ve been up to. Given that it’s a post-Godzilla world, the agency has been tracking “Titans” and is releasing information to the public about what they know. Barely. They’re also tracking Godzilla, should he come to rise again. From there, we learn that Mothra has been discovered in the Yunnan Forest in China. “Monster Zero” aka King Ghidorah is fast asleep down in Antarctica. And Rodan is in Isla de Mona, Mexico, in a volcano. If you find Godzilla, your security clearance will be upgraded.

Frankly, marketing ads like this are fun. It takes me back to the days when I would pour over the Slusho website endless for clues about Cloverfield. I happen to have a soft spot in my heart for monster movies, especially Godzilla so this is a fun way to experience the film before it comes out. I’m really, really hoping that we get a trailer during SDCC. I’m so ready for it. I mean just look at the brand new poster and logo below! And looking at the website, it seems like Godzilla is on his way to the convention…

What do you think of the ad? Are you ready to see more from the monsterverse? Let us know! Be sure to come back to Geek Girl Authority for more kaiju news. Godzilla: King of the Monsters will stomp in theaters May 31, 2019.
