If you are anything like us, you have been watching and rewatching the second season of The Witcher while waiting patiently for an announcement for season three. And that patience has paid off! Today, Netflix gave us the tiniest glimpse into what we can expect when Geralt (Henry Cavill), Ciri (Freya Allan) and Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) return.

The official Twitter for The Witcher series shared the announcement today with a picture of Cavill, Allan and Chalotra on set decked out in their costumes. But that isn’t the best part! They followed up that tweet with the official summary for the third season! And let’s be honest, we have always been stressed over Ciri’s safety, but this third season will have us breathing into paper bags.

At the end of season two, Geralt, Ciri and Yennefer get ready to set off on their own adventure and learn more about Ciri’s powers. This will take them to the safety of Aretuza. But is it truly safe? No. Not in the slightest. The summary goes on to share that the magic school is more of “a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic, and treachery.” After Yennefer’s epic escape from Aretuza alongside Cahir (Eamon Farren), it’s a wonder she is willing to go back. But it might also be the only place they can get answers to Ciri’s questions.

"As monarchs, mages, and beasts of the Continent compete to capture her, Geralt takes Ciri of Cintra into hiding, determined to protect his newly-reunited family against those who threaten to destroy it. Entrusted with Ciri's magical training, Yennfer leads them to the protected fortress of Aretuza, where she hopes to discover more about the girl's untapped powers: instead, they discover they've landed in a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic, and treachery. They must fight back, put everything on the line - or risk losing each other forever." The Witcher season three summary image.

We also know that at the close of season two of The Witcher, Tissaia (MyAnna Buring) was up to no good. And with the mysterious Vilgefortz (Mahesh Jadu) still lurking in the halls, things might get even worse. But, with Geralt and Yennefer (now with her magic back) to protect Ciri, chances are she will be okay. And yes, that is wishful thinking on our part. However, even if Geralt and Yennefer managed to get knocked out of the fight, Ciri is a certified badass on her own and has the skills of a Witcher, minus the mutation aspect.

With filming of season three now underway, we can only hope that more information about the season will come to light. The final tidbit of information we did get for The Witcher is that the episodes are being directed by Stephen Surjik, Gandja Monteiro, Loni Peristere and Bola Ogun. Each of them has some exciting shows under their belt, including The Umbrella Academy, Lucifer and American Horror Story.
