For the last couple of days we have seen rumors going about that Netflix was secretly working on another title for The Witcher. Now we know they have already started production on season two and that we most likely won’t see anything until next year, so this is obviously not what everyone is talking about. However, Netflix came forward today on their Twitter to share the news. An anime style film titled The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf is in the works.
They went on to say that both writers Lauren S. Hissrich and Beau DeMayo would be working on the project alongside Studio Mir. This studio is known for the wildly popular The Legend of Korra series. Now the phrase that has me asking a lot of questions is “taking us back to a threat facing the Continent”. How far back are we talking? Like a time before Geralt? Or is it going to be something that happens after Geralt and Yennifer? Or will The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf feature a story well before the creation of Geralt and Yennefer? We will just have to wait a bit longer for more answers.
We are also unsure if the main cast from The Witcher will reprise their roles in The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf. If we are going to see Geralt and Yennefer it would only be reasonable that Henry Cavill and Anya Chalotra voice them. There has also not been any hints towards a release date, though we hope it will be sometime before the release of season 2. Stay tuned with us for all of The Witcher news!
The rumors are true, a new Witcher story is in the works! The anime film, The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, will take us back to a new threat facing the Continent. Brought to you by the Witcher team @LHissrich and @BeauDeMayo, and Studio Mir the studio behind Legend of Korra.— NX (@NXOnNetflix) January 22, 2020
