Toss a Coin to Your … Liam Hemsworth

Netflix will shutter The Continent’s borders after Season 5 of its fan-favorite fantasy series, The WitcherVariety reports the streamer has renewed the show for a fifth and final season. Season 4 is currently in production, with plans to film both seasons back-to-back.

Liam Hemsworth steps into the role of Geralt of Rivia after news dropped in October of 2022 that he would replace Henry Cavill in Season 4. Cavill took his bow in Season 3, which aired in two parts in June and July of 2023.

Season 3

If you recall, Season 3 ends with Aretuza in shambles after Vilgefortz’s (Mahesh Jadu) betrayal and support of Emperor Emhyr (Bart Edwards). He plans to bring Ciri (Freya Allan) to Nilfgaard. He’s also instrumental in dismantling the Brotherhood of Sorcerers and the deaths of several mages during the Battle of Aretuza. Tissaia (MyAnna Buring) commits suicide in the aftermath.

Meanwhile, Philippa (Cassie Clare) and Dijkstra (Graham McTavish) orchestrate Vizimir’s (Ed Birch) assassination. They crown Radovid (Hugh Skinner) as Redania’s new king, allying themselves with him. Of course, this complicates Radovid’s relationship with Jaskier (Joey Batey).

Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) spearheads the rebuilding of the Brotherhood as The Continent teeters on the edge of war. Circling back to Ciri, we see that the Ciri presented at the Nilfgaardian court is Teryn (Frances Pooley), Ciri’s double.

Seasons 4 and 5

The Witcher Season 4 stars Hemsworth as Geralt, Chalotra as Yennefer, Allan as Ciri and Batey as Jaskier. As of writing, we have no word on plot details regarding Season 4 or 5 or when they will premiere. That said, I’m assuming we won’t have to wait long if they’re filming back-to-back.

The Witcher Seasons 1 through 3 are now streaming on Netflix. Before you go, check out the video Netflix shared of the Season 4 table read.
