Drake Rodger and Meg Donnelly in The Winchesters

The CW opted not to renew The Winchesters for a second season, Deadline announced yesterday. The Supernatural prequel will be shopped to other networks and platforms; read on to find out what we know so far.

The Winchesters follows Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Sam (Jared Padalecki) Winchester’s parents, as they fall in love and save the world. Ackles narrates the series as Dean, and Drake Rodger and Meg Donnelly star as John Winchester and Mary Campbell. The show premiered in October 2022, and the first season had 13 episodes.

Warner Bros. Television, the studio behind The Winchesters, was already preparing to find a new network for the show, and Deadline stated they plan to be aggressive in their efforts. The cast and crew have already launched a #SaveTheWinchesters campaign across social media. Ackles himself tweeted a video featuring the main cast members imploring fans to help the show find a new home.

The CW has canceled two other series as well. Kung Fu and Walker: Independence are no more, while Superman & Lois, All American: Homecoming and Gotham Knights remain in limbo.
