Our last The Wheel of Time update was on September 16th when the shows twitter account released a video from showrunner Rafe Judkins to mark the first day of shooting. The date happened to coincide with the 12th anniversary of The Wheel of Time’s creator and author, Robert Jordan’s death. Cue goosebumps.

The last announcement on a “Wheel of Time” Wednesday came September 4th when the show announced a casting. Today we got a new #WoTWednesday post. It’s a video which gives us a glimpse of the first episode’s table read. Cue goosebumps again.

In the video we see a script cover with The Wheel of Time logo, the Two Rivers cast arriving for work and, as they settle at the table, we hear someone say, “So, The Wheel of Time, season one, episode one” to much applause and away they go.

We get to hear Moiraine, Egwene, Rand and Mat speak and it seems that it is after the trollocs have come to Emond’s Field and the Two Rivers group is making their leave. Also interesting is trying to figure out who the others around the table are. Rand’s father Tam Al’Thor? Master Luhhan? The Al’veres? So very exciting!

The Wheel of Time is based on Robert Jordan’s fantasy series spanning 14 books. The final three books in the series were written by fantasy author Brandon Sanderson after Jordan’s passing. It is set in a sprawling, epic world where magic exists, but only women can use it. Meaning that in this series — women hold the keys to power. The story follows Moiraine, a member of the shadowy and influential all-female organization called the ‘Aes Sedai’ as she embarks on a dangerous, world-spanning journey with five young men and women. Moiraine is interested in these five because she believes one of them might be the reincarnation of an incredibly powerful individual, whom prophecies say will either save humanity or destroy it.
