When The Walking Dead announced their final season, they also announced an extended season 10 to soften the blow. Now we know when those episodes will premiere.  The Walking Dead Twitter account released the February premiere date as well as titles and synopsis for the six new episodes.

“Home Sweet Home” (Episode 1017)

Maggie (Lauren Cohan) has returned with a story she is not ready to share, even when her past catches up to her. Negan’s (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) safety is at stake again. Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Maggie fight an unseen and unknown thread.

“Find Me” (Episode 1018)

An adventure for Daryl and Carol (Melissa McBride) turns sideways when they come across an old cabin. It takes Daryl back to the years when he left the group after Rick (Andrew Lincoln) disappeared as he relives a time that only the apocalypse could manifest.

“One More” (Episode 1019)

Gabriel (Seth Gilliam) and Aaron (Ross Marquand) search for food and supplies to bring back to Alexandria. Small tragedies lead to bigger tragedies as faith is broken and optimism is fragmented when they are put to the ultimate test.

“Splinter” (Episode 1020)

Eugene (Josh McDermitt), Ezekiel (Khary Peyton), Yumiko (Eleanor Matsuura) and Princess (Paola Lopez) are captured and separated. Princess struggles with memories of her traumatic past and tries to escape one way or another with the help of Ezekiel.

“Diverged” (Episode 1021)

Daryl and Carol come to a fork in the road and head their separate ways. Each going into their own type of survival mode, the easiest of challenges become much harder. Will their individual journeys be the tipping point needed to mend their friendship, or is the distance between them permanent?

“Here’s Negan” (Episode 1022)

Carol takes Negan on a journey, hoping to minimize the increasing tension. Negan reflects on the events that led him to this point and comes to a conclusion about his future.

As you can see, the new TWD episodes will center on a handful of characters, including Negan. Morgan’s real life wife Hilarie Burton was cast as Negan’s late wife Lucille, so we will get a glimpse of Negan’s backstory in episode 1022, “Here’s Negan.”

This is very much like the anthology story telling that Fear the Walking Dead is doing in the current season six. It’s a great way to tell a full character story and I’m hoping we will get some answers to questions that the show skipped over. Like Maggie’s reaction to seeing Negan alive and free. I’ve always thought The Walking Dead needed to improve on character development. It’s great to see that happening.

The Walking Dead season 10 resumes on Sunday, February 28,2021.
