Virgil (Kevin Carroll) and Connie are running for their lives and find what they think is an abandoned house. Virgil wants to hide, but Connie wants to keep running. Something is chasing them and it’s not a walker, although there are walkers all around the house. They barely make it inside before more walkers show up. One walker ends up inside with them, but Virgil kills it.
Aaron (Ross Marquand), Carol (Melissa McBride) and Rosita (Christian Serratos) discuss how they are going to split up and look for Connie. Magna (Nadia Hilker) informs them that Kelly is missing. She took a horse and set out on her own to find her sister.
Virgil searches the house but doesn’t find anything or anyone. He tries to tell Connie to rest because she hasn’t slept in days. He promises to keep watch over her. Connie doesn’t want to rest. She believes the place is unsafe and decides to search the house again.

The Reapers torture Frost (Glenn Stanton) into telling them where Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and the others are hiding. Nothing is working so Pope (Ritchie Coster) tells Daryl to give it a shot. Daryl starts out just hitting Frost. Then he asks for a knife. Leah (Lynn Collins) gives him one, but she keeps her hand on her gun, just in case. Daryl threatens to cut off Frost’s finger. When Frost refuses to tell him anything, Daryl makes good on that threat. Frost is in enough pain that he tells them where one of the safehouses is located. Pope sends Leah with a team that includes Daryl to check it out.
Connie looks around the house and notices something about all of the pictures on the wall. All of the eyes are cut out. She goes into the bathroom and looks inside the medicine cabinet. She sees an eye looking back at her. Connie freaks out and runs to Virgil. She is so distraught she breaks her pencil when trying to write down what happened. Connie takes a knife and carves the words “not alone” into a painting.
Leah, Daryl and their team find the house that Frost told them about. As they close in on the house, Daryl finds a down power line. He shakes the line before heading to the house. Maggie sees the line moving. Leah’s team bursts into the house, but it is empty. Daryl suggests they stay and look for more clues. Leah says they will search the town first.
Kelly stops and finds an abandoned campsite. She looks through a bag and finds Connie’s sling shot and notebook. Her notes say that she walked with the dead for days. The next note is between Connie and Virgil. He mentions Michonne (Danai Gurira), saying she left to find someone. The last note says Connie felt like they were being watched. Kelly packs up the bag and keeps searching.

Virgil examines the medicine cabinet, but doesn’t see anything. He’s afraid she’s seeing things because she hasn’t slept. Virgil wants to search the house again, but Connie wants to leave. Connie walks away and Virgil follows. When they turn down a long hallway, a door appears between them, separating the two.
Connie is terrified. She makes her way down the hall, putting her hands on the wall. She feels something moving behind her and starts running. A feral man chases her to the end of the hall. She enters a door and quickly closes it, standing against the door so the man can’t get in.
Leah, Daryl and a man named Carver (Alex Meraz) search another house and find signs that someone was there recently. They search through the house to see if anyone is still there. Daryl goes upstairs but finds nothing. When he comes back downstairs, he sees something under the rug on the floor. When he gets to the first floor, he moves a rug over an opening where we can see Maggie’s face. She is hiding with Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), Gabriel (Seth Gilliam) and Elijah (Okea Eme-Akwari) under the floorboards.
Daryl thinks the people took off through the backdoor. He offers to track them and Carver accuses him of helping the people. They start bickering and Leah sends the rest of her team to check the perimeter. She tells Carver to cut it out and check up stairs for more clues. Leah is suspicious of Daryl too. She says he’s with them or he’s not.

Kelly has a hard time making her horse move and ends up falling in some mud. Carol, Magna, and Rosita catch up with her. Kelly shows them the notebook and says Connie is out there. She’s scared and she needs her sister. They all agree and keep moving.
Connie is in the basement and heads downstairs. She finds a bunch of bones. The room starts shaking. The feral people broke down the door. Connie crawls through a vent to get away. Virgil is able to get into a room with a lot of feral people chasing him. Connie is walking behind the walls and sees Virgil. Shestarts banging on the wall to get his attention. He doesn’t see the feral man creeping up behind him. Connie sees the man though and starts frantically banging.
The feral man attacks Virgil. Connie starts tearing at the wall to get to Virgil. The feral man tries to choke Virgil, saying he’s hungry. Connie bangs on the wall, getting the attention of the feral man. Virgil is able to grab his knife and stab the man. The man crawls back to the darkness as Virgil goes to the wall and stabs at it. Connie frantically pulls at the wall and reaches out to let him know it’s her.
Daryl tells Carver that the people they are looking for ran. He mentions that there are only 20 people at Meridian with weapons and walls. They could see their enemies coming from a mile away. Leah says it’s time to go, but Daryl starts a fight with Carver. Leah interjects again asking if this is Carver’s way of looking out for her. Like he did when Pope locked her in a shed and set it on fire. Carver says everything is a test nowadays. But she’s stupid if she thinks Daryl cares about them.
Daryl admits that he doesn’t care about anyone but Leah. She’s the only reason he’s with them. And though he made mistakes in the past, he hopes he can get things right this time. Plus he’s scared of Pope and doesn’t want to end up face first in a fire. But if Leah says to trust Pope, Daryl will trust him.
Leah says it’s time to move on. Carver steps on the rug covering the room under the floor. He notices it sounds different and removes the rug. He opens the trap door, but no one is in there. Maggie and the others quietly make their escape out the back.
Kelly leads everyone to a road. There’s a storm coming so they decide to stick together. They’re on the right path, but someone knocked over the mailbox to the house. Virgil and Connie are safe in the room. He realizes that the feral people led them to the house. He gives Connie a knife and tells her no matter what happens to keep going, with or without him. She says no, they are leaving together. She won’t let him give up. Virgil says he doesn’t have a choice. He lost himself for a long time and made choices that he can’t take back. Michonne gave him another chance and pointed him to a road that led to Connie. He needs her to find her family. She says they will do it together.

Virgil opens the door and they start running for the front door. Virgil hits the feral people as they run through the house. A woman jumps on Virgil’s back and stabs him multiple times. Connie cuts the woman in the arm and she retreats. Connie carries Virgil to the entrance. They are backed into a corner as more feral people emerge on them.
Connie grabs the walker corpse by the door and puts the blood and guts on her. She waits until the feral people are close and opens the front door. Connie and Virgil watch as the walkers tear the feral people apart.
Connie carries Virgil out of the house and they fall to the ground. Two feral men escape the house. Connie stands up to face them. She watches them fall to the ground after being hit with something. She looks where the shot came from and sees Kelly. Carol, Magna, and Rosita take care of the walkers as Kelly and Connie are reunited.
Leah leads her team back to Meridian where Pope is waiting for them. Carver reports what they found and Pope laughs. He says the day was a success. After they left, Pope continued his discussion with Frost. He looks at Daryl and says he got everything he needed out of him. Pope killed Frost and tied him to a poll where he reanimated. They walk into the community and Pope starts talking to Carver. They both turn and look at Daryl, laughing.
