AMC released the trailer and key art for the highly anticipated return of The Walking Dead. The final season continues with part two of three next month. Things were intense when part one ended. And it’s only getting more chaotic as Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Maggie (Lauren Cohan) continue their war with the Reapers to get food for Alexandria. The Commonwealth closes in on Alexandria and oh Lord! Carol (Melissa McBride) is baking cookies!
Part one ended with the war between Maggie and the Reapers. Daryl helped her, Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Gabriel (Seth Gilliam) get into Meridian by pretending to join the Reapers. It also gave him a chance to get close to former girlfriend Leah (Lynn Collins). Now Leah is leading the reapers and she is targeting Maggie and Negan. Meanwhile, young Judith Grimes (Cailey Fleming) and her friend Gracie (Annabelle Holloway) are trapped in the basement with walkers at the door. Unfortunately, there’s a storm and the basement is filling up with water.
From the looks of things, Daryl mediates things between Maggie and Leah. But what is the result? Things between Negan and Maggie aren’t any better, despite Negan’s help at Meridian. Judith and Gracie make it out of the basement, just in time for Daryl to return. It’s not long before the Commonwealth soldiers show up to “save” Alexandria.
From the trailer, it appears that not everyone settles into the Commonwealth. There’s some suspicion that the Commonwealth is not what it seems to be. Especially when Eugene (Josh McDermitt) and Princess (Paola Lázaro) are in jail. And we formally meet the Commonwealth governor, Pamela Milton (Laila Robins) who promises to put the world back together the way it was. Check out the trailer and the key art below.
The Walking Dead returns with many of our heroes fighting imminent hellfire under Reaper attack; while others battle Mother Nature’s torrential wrath in Alexandria. For all, their world is literally crashing down around them. Meanwhile, life in the Commonwealth is not as idyllic as it seems. For some, hope will be renewed. Others will be pushed past the point of no return. One truth holds tight: Lives hang in the balance with each decision drastically changing their future, their chances of survival, and the state of each community.
The Walking Dead final season returns on Sunday, February 20 on AMC. Stream early on AMC+
