AMC’s The Walking Dead universe just got a little bit bigger. The Untitled third TWD series will premiere in Spring 2020 on AMC. An announcement was made via Skybound TWD’s Twitter page in a video that features the young cast. Watch the teaser below.
The cast includes Aliyah Royale, Annet Mahendru, Alexa Mansour, Nicolas Cantu, and Hal Cumpston. In the teaser, the kids talk about growing up and seeing the world. The new world of the walking dead. We’ve always known there were other civilizations, but people in the TWD universe are very weary of other people. What’s interesting about the video is the drawings. Are these the places, people and things we will see in the series?
TWD chief content officer Scott Gimple said the show will have “different corners, different tones, and different aspects.” Gimple teased the show revealing that there is a big secret about the TWD universe. “The big secret is that all along, there have been other civilizations that survived the apocalypse. We saw hints of that in Season 7 of The Walking Dead and again in [Fear Season 5 episode] ’The End of Everything,’ and now we’re about to show a lot more of the world in a bunch of different projects,” Gimple said.
TWD also released a synopsis for the series at last week’s San Diego Comic Con.
Some will become heroes. Some will become villains. In the end, all of them will be changed forever. Grown-up and cemented in their identities, both good and bad.
Gimple and showrunner Matt Negrete created the spin-off. The series is currently in production in Virginia.
