It’s official Lennie James will crossover from The Walking Dead to Fear the Walking Dead’s fourth season. James appeared on Talking Dead to reveal that he in fact will begin filming his scenes on the spinoff show on Monday, November 27.
James expressed many thanks to the cast and crew on The Walking Dead as if he would not be returning. Scott Gimple sent a statment saying that there was a lot more Morgan stories to be told on The Walking Dead. For now, James will be a regular on Fear the Walking Dead along with newcomers Garrett Dillahunt (The Gifted) and Jenna Elfman (Dharma & Greg).
Since season two of Fear the Walking Dead, fans have been asking for some connecting storyline to The Walking Dead. Some fan theories are that Madison Clark (Kim Dickens) is related to Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) or Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus). When asked if there would ever be a crossover, TWD creator Robert Kirkman said no. Then in October at New York Comic Con, he changed his mind. Kirkman stated that a crossover character would be featured soon.
Fan theories started going crazy with Michael Cudlitz being the fore runner in who could possible crossover. Fear The Walking Dead season 3 ended with a possible location move from Tijuana to Houston, Texas. Abraham Ford is from Houston. Texas is also where he found Eugene Porter (Josh McDermitt) and Rosita Espinoza (Christian Serratos)
There was also a possibility of seeing a character in Fear crossover to their future selves in TWD. One fan theory speculated that the Whispers leader, Alpha was actually Madison Clark. We haven’t seen the Whispers on the TV show yet, but that would have a been quite a twist if it actually happened.
Morgan Jones first appeared on The Walking Dead in episode one of season one. He saved Rick from a walker. He told Rick everything that happened while he was in a coma. Rick left to find his family. We didn’t see Morgan again until season three when had lost all of his marbles and a protein bar. Rick left him in their home town to figure things out for himself. Morgan reemerged in season 5 and has been with Rick ever since.
The Fear the Walking Dead timeline is behind The Walking Dead by about 6 seasons. Fear is taking place around the time of TWD’s season 2, when Rick and the gang were on the farm. So there is definitely some room to move Morgan to Texas. The season 3 finale ended on a cliffhanger as the Tijuana dam exploded. Madison was separated from her family in the closing scene.
Fear the Walking Dead season 4 will premiere in Summer 2018. The Walking Dead season 8 continues Sunday nights on AMC. You can watch a live stream of James’ first day on the Fear set Monday Nov. 27 on Facebook and Twitter at 4pm EST.
