Been pretty hard to keep this a secret. But I love working with @JDMorgan. I love watching him become #Negan and take on that swagger. And I love the @TheWalkingDead family. They’ve been a part of our family for ages and I’m so grateful for their kindness. Xoxo #hereslucille
The extended season will follow an anthology style storytelling. Each episode will focus on one character or a small group of characters for each hour. Negan’s backstory is just one of those stories. TWD creator Robert Kirkman wrote the Negan backstory, Here’s Negan, six pages at a time in Image+ magazine. According to THR, the story ended up being 48 pages.
If you don’t know Negan’s story, here’s a brief summary. Negan was married to Lucille before the apocalypse. He wasn’t very nice to her though. Negan had an affair, but broke it off when he found out Lucille had cancer. Lucille died just as the zombie apocalypse started. She reanimated in her deathbed. This may explain a little about why Negan is the way he is. I mean … everyone was a little crazy at some point. Negan named his barbed-wire baseball bat after his late wife.
The Walking Dead extended season will air in early 2021.
